Complaint against petrol bunk manager for swindling Rs 4.5 lakh
Tirupur: A 45-year-old dalit man, who was running a petrol bunk near Kangeyam in the district, on Friday accused his manager of swindling Rs 4.5 lakh.
Police said N Sundararajan of Padiyur had obtained the petrol bunk dealership from a public sector undertaking oil corporation under the Scheduled Caste quota.
In his police complaint, Sundararajan said he had appointed Palanisamy alias Thangaraj, from Padiyur, as manager as he was not well-versed in the business. “Thangaraj was involved in all the business affairs, besides maintaining accounts. He, however, swindled Rs 4.5 lakh from the bunk and is threatening me to pay him Rs 10 lakh if I want to continue running the business,” he said.
Sundararajan said the petrol bunk could not be operated since the third week of November, as he could not draw load from the oil corporation because of lack of money. “Recently, Coimbatore regional sales manager of the oil corporation held an inquiry and warned to cancel the dealership if I fail to resume the sales soon by paying outstanding due of Rs 8 lakh.”
He said Thangaraj had also taken account books away and broken glasses of office room on November 26. “Even if I try to run the bunk, Thangaraj would not allow it. So, police should take action against him and provide me protection,” he said in the complaint to the Kangeyam police. No first information report has been registered yet.
A police official said, “It seems that Thangaraj acted as informal partner of the petrol bunk and invested a few lakhs in the business. It needed to be checked who is at fault. We will provide protection for running the bunk if needed.”
Sundararajan has also taken up the issue with the National Commission for Scheduled Castes.
