Clash among transgender groups over extortion in Sanigawan area
Kanpur: A violent confrontation erupted between two groups of transgenders over extortion territory in Chakeri’s Sangwan area. The incident involved stone-pelting and gunfire.
Police registered cases following complaints from both parties. Acting on Kajal Kiran’s complaint, the police filed charges against 39 people, including 14 named persons, for serious offences including attempted murder and robbery.
The incident occurred late Wednesday when Roli Gudiya and associates, including Mahak Dixit, Rashika Shukla and Mahi were returning to their Kashiram Colony residences. Near the Vishwakarma Temple, they reportedly faced an assault from Neelam Yadav’s group, which included Kajal Shukla, Pooja, Vinita Yadav, Muskan, Naina, Munni, Pramila, Rajni, and others
The attackers allegedly used stones, firearms, and knives, causing injuries to Roli Gudiya’s group.
The victims reported theft of valuables worth Rs five lakhs.
Following this, Kajal Kiran, who holds a leadership position in the transgender community, visited Chakeri police station where Neelam Yadav’s group filed their complaint. According to the counter-complaint, on December 5, near Vishwakarma Temple, Roli Gudiya’s group, including Rishi Shukla, Sanju, Pallavi, Umangi, Mohini, Nikki Baby, Gorelal alias Mahak Dixit, Asma, Pantooj, Nehal Aatankwadi, Sunny, Tarana, Monica, and others, allegedly attacked them. This altercation resulted in injuries to Neelam Yadav, Chahak and Rajni, with claims of two lakh rupees and jewellery being stolen.
Inspector-in-charge Ashok Kumar Dubey confirmed the registration of cases and ongoing investigation.
