Living voters declared dead, names deleted, claims Tejashwi

PATNA: RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav on Sunday alleged that EC’s credibility had been largely eroded due to controversies surrounding the SIR of electoral rolls in Bihar. “At each booth, the names of at least 50 living electors have been deleted on grounds that they are dead. We have proof,” Tejashwi told reporters in Araria during INDIA bloc’s press conference and ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ led by Congress MP Rahul Gandhi. Terming NDA as “Nahin Denge Adhikar,” Tejashwi accused BJP of indulging in stealing votes of the poor and deprived. “At his Gaya rally, the PM said EC is working to drive away infiltrators from the country, but in its affidavit before SC, EC has not mentioned this issue,” Tejashwi claimed, adding that Bihar, as a land of democracy, would not let it be destroyed. Dipankar Bhattacharya, CPI(M-L) general secretary, said EC failed in its job of preparing “accurate poll rolls.” He added, “BJP has largest number of BLAs, but they haven’t filed any complaint related to the SIR. Does this mean names of BJP voters haven’t been deleted from electoral rolls?” On a question on Chirag Paswan’s jibe that he had become a “pichhlaggu” (follower) of Congress and Rahul, Tejashwi said, “I won’t comment on his remark, but I would like him to get married soon…” Rahul joined in, saying the advice “also applies to me”, sparking laughter from those present. Meanwhile, police have filed an FIR against Tejashwi in Gadchiroli following a complaint by BJP MLA Milind Narote, who accused him of posting objectionable and defamatory content against PM Modi on X ahead of PM’s Bihar visit. Tejashwi is charged with creating a rift and disturbing public tranquillity. – Manoj Chaurasia & Soumitra Bose Courtesy : TOI Note: This news is originally published on https:/timesofindia.com/bha and is used purely for non-profit/non-commercial purposes, especially human rights.
Thackerays back Rahul’s claim, ask workers to be alert

MUMBAI: In a build-up to municipal polls in Maharashtra, the Thackeray cousins are now invoking ‘vote chori’, backing Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s charges of irregularities in polling and voter enumeration. A day after MNS chief Raj Thackeray raised this issue in Pune, Sena UBT chief Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday asked party workers to be alert to voter lists and ensure it did not include bogus voters. While addressing a meeting of party workers in Dahisar, Uddhav said, “Keep your eyes peeled open and check the voter’s list to ensure that there are no bogus voters and people are not voting 2-3 times.” “How did the number of voters in the state increase by 40-42 lakh? Find out who are these people who have inflated the voter’s list and don’t let them vote,” he said, adding, “If elections are conducted in a genuine manner, it will not be possible for the governing parties to win. Especially in Maharashtra.” Sena UBT’s Sanjay Raut said, “This issue was raised by Raj Thackeray earlier as well. PM Modi has come to office by stealing votes. This is how the army in Pakistan comes to power.” Raj on Saturday had said, “I have been saying this for years. I met opposition members including NCP SP’s Sharad Pawar and TMC’s Mamata Banerjee and said that we should boycott Lok Sabha polls for this reason. Our votes are not coming to us. They are being stolen. Those in office have stolen votes.” Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis hit back at Raj and Uddhav, saying they needed to analyse why public has lost faith in them. “Until they accept the truth, they will remain in this state,” he said. ‘Lokniti’ against the nation

The political circle fell into complete silence when the Central Election Commission issued a notice to Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, for his allegations pertaining to Maharashtra assembly elections. The commission through this notice asked Rahul Gandhi to file an affidavit regarding these allegations or apologize to the country. When the Commission sent such a notice to Rahul Gandhi, who doubts a constitutional institute like Election Commission and the honesty of all government employees without giving any solid evidence, it naturally caused a stir among people from various sections, who vehemently oppose BJP and Narendra Modi. Rahul Gandhi has been continuously accusing the Election Commission over Maharashtra assembly polls for the last 6-7 months. He accused the Election Commission of ‘vote theft’ by holding a press conference in Delhi recently. He alleged that 1 crore voters have increased in Maharashtra within 6 months from the Lok Sabha elections. The actual number of voters increased is only 40 lakh. Rahul Gandhi alleged that voters from other states were registered in Maharashtra by BJP in collaboration with the Election Commission and they went on to win the assembly elections with the help of this increased number of voters. In case a person not belonging to the constituency objects to changes in the voter list, it is mandatory for him to file an affidavit before the Election Commission. Based on this rule itself the Election commission demanded Rahul Gandhi to either file an affidavit or apologize to the entire country for the false allegations. It’s been 5 days since the Election Commission sent this notice. Rahul Gandhi had not filed an affidavit nor had he apologized till the time of writing this article. Meanwhile, Sanjay Kumar, co-founder of CSDS-Lokniti, a research organization that predicts election results, retracted his tweet regarding the Maharashtra elections and apologized to the Election Commission. It is extremely important to understand the connection between this apology and the notice sent to Rahul Gandhi. Understanding this connection can help reveal the conspiracy behind these rampant allegations against the Election Commission and Bharatiya Janata Party. A lot of organizations have come up in the country in the last 35 – 40 years which are in the business of predicting the election results. Psephology is a method of finding out trends in voting by interacting with the voters and predicting the likely winner based on that. This methodology is now well developed not only in the country but in the entire world. 1 to 2 percent of the total voters are interviewed during this survey. This is called a sample survey. Based on this, predictions are made about which party will win the majority in the election. In the last few years, post poll surveys are also being carried out along with the pre poll surveys. Predictions of these Exit Polls are based on the interactions held with selected voters after they cast their votes. CSDS-Lokniti is an organization that predicts such results. Few days back, Sanjay Kumar had claimed that compared to the Lok Sabha elections the number of voters in Ramtek and Deolali assembly constituencies had decreased by 38.45 percent and 36.82 percent respectively. “We drew the wrong conclusions from the Election Commission’s data, I sincerely apologize for this mistake,” tweeted Sanjay Kumar. It was on the basis of this analysis of voting figures done by Sanjay Kumar, that Congress leaders like Pawan Khera were accusing the Election Commission of vote theft. The Prince in his press conference in Delhi had said that he was presenting the statistics of the Election Commission itself on a big screen using modern technology. When Sanjay Kumar tweeted about the decrease in voters in Ramtek and Deolali, Congress immediately hurled accusations against the Election Commission once again. Sanjay Kumar, who retracted his tweet and issued an apology, was asked in a television interview about the allegations being made by the Congress based on his information. Sanjay Kumar while answering this said that our conclusions were wrong and therefore we are apologizing. If Congress is accusing the Election Commission based on our findings, then Congress should also apologize. It is not a mere coincidence that Sanjay Kumar apologized after Election Commission’s final ultimatum to Rahul Gandhi to prove his allegations or apologize to the country. Even Congress won’t believe Sanjay Kumar, when he says that he is not aware that the accusations made by Congress are based on his information. Now the question remains, what exactly do people like Rahul Gandhi and Sanjay Kumar want to achieve? Rahul Gandhi’s language and overall body language clearly shows that his aim is to create distrust in a constitutional institution like the Election Commission. The Election Commission has deleted the names of around 65 lakh voters after verifying their identity proofs in Bihar. The Election Commission has made it clear time and again that deleting the name of infiltrators in the voting list is the purpose of this verification. Rahul Gandhi has taken out a march in Bihar along with Tejashwi Yadav against the verification of voter lists. Rahul Gandhi is raising the issue of voter lists in Maharashtra during this march as well. It is justifiable to question the Election Commission for errors in the voter lists. However, Rahul Gandhi’s real intention is to create distrust towards constitutional institutions, government machinery and government employees in the minds of people by accusing an institution like the Election Commission of vote theft based on these errors. Creating anarchy through this is Rahul Gandhi’s hidden agenda. This is a conspiracy to deliberately destabilize the country while vehemently opposing the government. Insulting Dalits and backward classes is Akhilesh’s innate disease, alleges Keshav Prasad Maurya

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya Sunday, slammed Samajwadi Party (SP) national president Akhilesh Yadav, alleging that ”oppressing the Dalits and backward classes was his ‘innate disease’. Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya Sunday, slammed Samajwadi Party (SP) national president Akhilesh Yadav, alleging that ”oppressing the Dalits and backward classes was his ‘innate disease’. He has said that Akhilesh, who sings the tune of fake PDA — (Pichde (backward classes), Dalit and Alpasankhyak (minorities) — forgets to pay tribute to former Chief Minister Kalyan Singh ‘Babu Ji’ on his death anniversary. Writing on his social media account X, Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya said that ,”SP president Akhilesh Yadav, who sings the tune of fake PDA, forgets to pay tribute to former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Kalyan Singh ‘Babu Ji’, who comes from backward class, on his death anniversary in the greed for Muslim votes. Not only this, he showed no leniency in removing his party’s MLA Pooja Pal Ji, who comes from the same class”. Maurya further wrote, ”In fact, mafia, criminals, and hooliganism are the identity of SP, which does family politics.” Two days ago, during a programme organised in Aligarh on the death anniversary of Kalyan Singh, CM Yogi Adityanath attacked the opposition and said that ”The people who are dividing society in the name of PDA (Parivaar Development Authority) today, the same people used to incite riots and ban Hindu festivals. They used to ban the Kanwar Yatra, obstruct Durga Puja, and Dussehra festivals. When riots used to happen, violence erupted in Aligarh, Bareilly, Muzaffarnagar, and Meerut. Then, these people did not speak in favour of the oppressed Hindus, Dalits, and backward classes; then only the BJP stood with them.” Courtesy : The Statesman Note: This news is originally published on https:/thestatesman.com/bha and is used purely for non-profit/non-commercial purposes, especially human rights.
Kancha Ilaiah Shepherd named in Congress’s OBC committee; denies taking membership in party

In a recent blog post Kancha Iliah has slammed the BJP’s “pretension” of furthering the OBC agenda through token representations while also criticising the Congress’s negligence towards the community. Dalit intellectual Kancha Ilaiah Prominent Dalit rights activist and author Dr Kancha Ilaiah Shepherd has denied joining the Congress after his name appeared in the party’s OBC Ideological Advisory Committee. Responding to rumours that he has joined the Congress, the former professor of political science at Osmania University clarified that he has not taken membership in the party and that his association with the OBC committee is purely ideological. “They are spreading rumours that I have joined Congress. I haven’t joined Congress,” Dr Ilaiah told TNIE. He added that he accepted the membership of the OBC committee as he felt the “need to expose the false narrative of the BJP and RSS” and show how they “cannot liberate” the Shudra, OBC communities. Dr Ilaiah has been campaigning for a caste census for several years, one of the key political causes taken up by Congress in recent years. He recently worked as vice chairman of the IWG that submitted a detailed report on the Telangana Socio-Economic, Educational, Employment, and Political Caste survey. Kancha Ilaiah has also actively supported Rahul Gandhi’s campaign for the protection of the constitution and was seen along the former Congress president during the Bharat Jodo Yatra. In a recent blog post, Dr Ilaiah has slammed the BJP’s “pretension” of furthering the OBC agenda through token representations while also criticising the Congress’s negligence towards the community, which he claimed caused the weakening of the party. “… in their hundred years of history, the BJP-RSS combine has not produced a single leader like Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel or Kamaraj Nadar from their organisation or party. Most of their OBC leaders were small, dependent leaders of no stature, who were given some visible political positions only after the Mandal period, more particularly after they started the Ram Temple movement,” he wrote. “No OBC leader from RSS or BJP is known for leading an agrarian movement. Every ideological issue was decided by the Brahmin leaders in RSS. The only leader, as the media now tells us, as the leader of decision-making capacity is said to be Modi, that too during his first term as Prime Minister. His second term onward, he is also going by the RSS direction,” he added. Akhilesh, Stalin, Soren to join Rahul’s poll yatra

NEW DELHI: The ongoing ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ of Rahul Gandhi-Tejashwi Yadav is set to become a show of opposition unity, with senior netas of regional parties scheduled to join the 16-day roadshow ahead of its culmination in Patna on September 1. While Tamil Nadu CM and DMK chief MK Stalin will join the yatra on Aug 27, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav will be part of the show on Aug 30. Congress general secretary KC Venugopal said Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren and other opposition netas will also join the yatra in coming days. Among Congress CMs turning up for the roadshow are Karnataka’s Siddaramaiah, Telangana’s Revanth Reddy and Himachal’s Sukhwinder Sukhu. MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will be part of the yatra for two days on Aug 26 and 27. The roadshow designed to take forward opposition’s offensive of “vote chori” came after a rare unity in anti-BJP ranks which even led to a washout of proceedings in the just-concluded Monsoon session of Parliament. The participation of non-Congress stalwarts is seen as a fillip for the agenda which would also send out a message to BJP. Given that Bihar assembly polls will be announced after a few weeks, RJD and Congress also hope that it would boost the profile of the anti-BJP alliance and provide further traction with the people ahead of the tough contest Courtesy : TOI Note: This news is originally published on https:/timesofindia.com/bha and is used purely for non-profit/non-commercial purposes, especially human rights.
Bihar has become epicentre of unemployment: Rahul

Patna: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Saturday alleged that Bihar had become the “epicentre of unemployment” in the country and tops national charts for joblessness. Addressing a public meeting, Rahul alleged that young people in Bihar were being deprived of all avenues of employment. “The BJP govt had shut all the doors for the youth through which they could get jobs,” he said. He attributed the surge in unemployment to the closure of small and medium industries, which he blamed on demonetisation and the “wrong implementation of the GST”. The Congress leader also accused the BJP of attempting to manipulate Bihar’s upcoming elections by purging names from the voter rolls. “Now the BJP was trying to steal the elections in Bihar by deleting the names of lakhs of voters from electoral rolls in the state. This will not be allowed to happen in Bihar,” he said. Rahul framed the situation as part of what he described as a larger ideological struggle. “This is part of the bigger ideological battle between the forces which wanted to divide people and those who wanted to unite them,” he said. He recalled how Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated by Nathuram Godse, arguing that it was because Gandhi opposed an ideology that went against the values enshrined in the Constitution. “Mahatma Gandhi was killed by Godse just because he was opposed to the ideology enshrined in the Constitution, for which Gandhi ji devoted his entire life,” Rahul said. ‘Voter Adhikaar Yatra’: Rahul Gandhi and RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav ride bikes in Purnea; watch

NEW DELHI: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and his RJD ally Tejashwi Yadav were seen riding motorbikes on the eighth day of their “Vote Adhikaar Yatra” at Purnea in poll-bound Bihar. While both leaders and their security personnel wore helmets, many supporters on two-wheelers flouted traffic rules by riding without helmets. On Saturday, while passing through Kursela, leader of opposition Rahul Gandhi made an unscheduled halt at Makhana fields near Simaria, where he interacted with farmers to learn about the cultivation process, yields, and export potential of Bihar’s famed fox nut. Farmers shared their concerns, pointing to exploitation by middlemen and the absence of fair pricing mechanisms. Gandhi noted that while Makhana fetches around Rs 700 per kg locally, it is sold abroad, including in the US, at several times that price, underscoring the lack of government support for producers. Bihar Congress president Rajesh Ram echoed the sentiment, saying that despite rising global demand, farmers and fishermen remain trapped by middlemen and denied a fair share of profits. Why Vote Adhikaar Yatra? The Vote Adhikaar Yatra is a mass outreach kicked off by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to highlight what he calls an attack on the core principle of democracy, the right to vote. Covering more than 1,300 kilometres across over 20 districts, the Yatra seeks to mobilise people against alleged “irregularities” in the revision of electoral rolls during the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) Special Intensive Revision (SIR). The opposition has alleged that the process is being “manipulated to delete the names of poor, minorities, and migrant workers, amounting to a new form of vote theft”. ‘Entire country knows he steals votes’: Rahul Gandhi’s big charge on PM Modi; Bihar yatra reaches Bhagalpur

NEW DELHI: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday mounted a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP-led NDA government, accusing them of attempting ‘vote theft’ in Bihar and betraying the country’s youth with policies that ‘destroy employment opportunities.’ “The entire country now knows that Narendra Modi steals votes,” Gandhi alleged. Addressing a massive public rally in Bhagalpur during the ongoing ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’, Gandhi alleged that the Modi government and the Election Commission were working together to snatch away citizens’ constitutional right to vote. “The SIR is an attempt by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP and the EC to steal your votes. They are trying their best to snatch your voting rights. The ‘vote chor’ came to Gayaji, but he did not say even a word on his government’s attempt to steal votes with the help of the EC,” Gandhi said. He alleged that though PM Modi visited Bihar earlier in the day, he remained silent on alleged irregularities in the Maharashtra and Karnataka elections as well as the crisis in Manipur. He attacked Modi for maintaining “silence” on irregularities in elections. “The SIR is an attempt by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP and the EC to steal your votes. They are trying their best to snatch your voting rights. The ‘vote chor’ came to Gayaji, but he did not say even a word on his government’s attempt to steal votes with the help of the EC,” the Congress leader said. Invoking the Constitution, Gandhi said all citizens are equal and every person has one vote, but alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Election Commission are attacking it by canceling votes. He cited the case of a voter who told him his vote was canceled by the EC after he had voted for Congress in the Lok Sabha elections. “Constitution guarantees equal rights to everyone; but PM and EC are snatching people’s right to vote,” he alleged. The leader of opposition also accused the Modi government of pushing the youth into despair. “Young people study for months to get a job, then take exams. But… on the day of the exam, the paper gets leaked. The situation is such that the youth cannot find employment in this state”. Lashing out at the Agniveer scheme, Gandhi said the government had ended secure jobs in the armed forces. “Earlier, millions of our youth used to join the army. They protected the country, received pensions, and were taken care of. Today, an Agniveer has lost his hand, but no help is being provided to him. He has been removed from his job and sent back home.” Gandhi also recalled demonetisation, GST and the now-repealed farm laws, alleging that every measure of this government is anti-poor. During the rally, Gandhi said that even attempts to suppress the yatra by cutting electricity would fail. “Here, they have cut off the electricity, thinking that cutting the power will silence the voice, but the voice does not stop in the darkness; it is heard.” he remarked. The Bhagalpur event marked the sixth day of the 1,300-km, 16-day yatra launched on August 17, which will pass through more than 20 districts of Bihar before concluding with a rally at Patna’s Gandhi Maidan on September 1. Congress leaders from Karnataka will also be joining the yatra. Deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar will walk with Gandhi over the weekend in Katihar district, while chief minister Siddaramaiah will join on August 29.
