Congress leaders harbouring Emergency mindset: BJP MP

Indore: BJP MP and spokesman Sudhanshu Trivedi on Wednesday accused Congress leaders of harbouring ‘Emergency period mindset’ that they were above Constitution and their ambitions outweighed national interests. “Congress believes in the objectionable slogan of ‘India is Indira and Indira is India.’ The same mindset of Emergency remains prevalent in the party even today. And leaders like Rahul Gandhi consider themselves above Constitution,” Trivedi said while addressing a press conference to mark 50 years of Emergency. He said that June 25, 1975 marked a black chapter in the history of Indian democracy as fundamental rights of citizens were trampled, freedom of expression was shackled, and voices of the Opposition were crushed. “Congress wants to run the country according to its convenience. If it wins elections, it doesn’t have any problem with Constitution, but after any setback in polls, it starts claiming that the Constitution is in danger,” he said, referring to Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi waving the ‘red book’ in Congress rallies. Trivedi questioned Gandhi’s comments during his foreign visits and said, “Months ago, Rahul Gandhi went abroad and asked why the defenders of democracy – US and Europe – were silent on India. Calling them defenders… Such utterances show the party’s Emergency mindset. Their political ambitions outweigh interests of the nation.” To a query, Trivedi said that the West Asia crisis was nothing but a fight between Muslim countries for supremacy. “One pole of this fight is Saudi Arabia, the leader of the Sunni world, and the other pole is Iran, the leader of the Shia world. We hope that a positive spirit will emerge and the crisis in West Asia will be resolved peacefully soon,” he said. Congress’s 3-day campaign for Ambedkar statue in Gwalior, MP chief shares meal with Dalit family

Jitu Patwari & other senior party leaders are scheduled to hold a fast Wednesday, demanding the installation of an Ambedkar statue on HC premises. Bhopal: The controversy surrounding the installation of the Ambedkar statue in Gwalior bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court has taken a political turn with Congress state chief Jitu Patwari embarking on a three-day ‘Samvidhan Satyagrah’. On Tuesday, the second day of the protest, Patwari along with senior Congress leaders including former MLA Sajjan Singh Verma and former minister P.C.Sharma reached the Buddha Vihar in Bhopal’s Panchasheel Nagar and shared a meal with a Dalit family from Buddha Vihar. The Congress leaders are scheduled to reach Gwalior the next day and hold a fast demanding installation of the statue. The controversy began in February a group of lawyers had approached the Madhya Pradesh Chief Justice for approval to install the statue at the premises of the court. The proposal was met with opposition from another faction of lawyers, who alleged that the decision to install the statue was taken without consulting the larger bar association of the state and that it lacked basic building permission. In May, arguments broke out with one faction demanding hoisting of the national flag to commemorate Operation Sindoor, while the other seeking the installation of the Ambedkar statue. Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Mayawati had written to MP Chief Minister Mohan Yadav in May, urging him to ensure that there is no hiccup in the plan. Earlier this month, the Bhim Army Bharat Ekta Mission, too, had demanded the statue be installed at its designated spot. Patwari, meanwhile, referred to Amit Shah’s remark in Parliament that had put the Union Home Minister in a tight spot in December. “On one hand, the Prime Minister does ‘Jai-Jai kaar‘ (hail) of Baba Saheb Ambedkar and then on the other hand, his Home Minister says, ‘Ambedkar-Ambedkar-Ambedkar, itna bhagwaan kaa naam lenge toh bhagwaan mil jaate‘ (Ambedkar-Ambedkar-Ambedkar, if you take God’s name so much, you will meet God’). … But Ambedkar is God for us,” the Congress state chief said in his address to party workers. He then went on to highlight the involvement of BJP workers and leaders at the district- level in atrocities against the Scheduled Castes (SCs). Between 2023 and 2025, Patwari alleged, there was at least 50 cases of murder and rape in which the victime were Dalits. He sought accountability from Mohan Yadav for the “failure” of the police to protect the SC communities. “When there is a crime, instead of protecting the victims, the police and the administration get busy in protecting the perpetrators,” he alleged. In response, BJP state president V.D.Sharma accused his Congress counterpart of indulging in vote bank politics and using the Scheduled Caste community for the purpose. “What has the Congress party done for Ambedkar, apart from using his name? It was the BJP who honoured Ambedkar’s legacy by honouring him with Bharat Ratna posthumously,” he told ThePrint. MP: Deadly attack on Congress leader Pradeep Ahirwar after asking his caste, said – “Attacked with sword after identifying Dalit”

Incident of Ganjbasoda in Vidisha district, Ahirwar said – “Jungle Raj in the state” Bhopal. A shocking and shameful incident has come to light in Vidisha district of Madhya Pradesh, where a deadly attack was made on Congress leader and former member of Scheduled Caste Commission Pradeep Ahirwar after asking his caste. This incident happened late on Sunday night around 11:30 pm, when Pradeep Ahirwar was returning from Ganjbasoda to Bhopal. According to the information received, hundreds of unknown attackers stopped his Scorpio car, and first asked his name, then after knowing his caste, attacked him with swords. Pradeep Ahirwar showed wisdom and somehow took the car out of the spot and informed the police, and reached Ganjbasoda police station in the night itself and lodged an FIR. However, he did not get any injury in this incident. “Attack was done after knowing the name and caste” In a conversation with The Mooknayak, Pradeep Ahirwar said, “The attackers first asked my name. When I told my name and they came to know about my caste (Dalit), they immediately started attacking with swords.” He further said, “There is no such thing as law and order left in the state. The common man is not safe in the rule of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav. This is a direct caste-based attack. Strictest action should be taken against the accused.” “There was a fight between groups, but the attack was on Pradeep Ahirwar” Vidisha Superintendent of Police Rohit Kashwani told The Mooknayak, – “This was a fight between two groups. Pradeep Ahirwar was not the target, but his car was targeted. A report has been filed and investigation is going on. Efforts are being made to identify the accused.” However, Pradeep Ahirwar’s allegations are different from this. He says that this is not a normal factional fight but a well-planned caste violence. In this case, a case has been registered under SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, Section 307 (attempt to murder) of Indian Penal Code, and Section 147, 148, 149 (rioting and assault with deadly weapons). After this incident, there is a lot of outrage among Congress leaders and Dalit organizations. SC Congress has termed this attack as power-protected casteism. State Congress spokesperson Ravi Rahul said in a conversation with The Mooknayak, “If a Dalit leader can be attacked like this, then what is the guarantee of the safety of common Dalits?” He further said, this incident highlights the serious situation of caste violence in Madhya Pradesh. This is not only an attack on a politician, but also a big question on the social security of the Dalit community and the law and order of the state. We strongly condemn this incident. MP Congress reserves general secretary post for transgender community, historic initiative towards social justice

Articles 15(1) and 15(4) of the Indian Constitution empower the state to make special provisions for socially and educationally backward classes. Giving this reservation to the transgender community confirms this sentiment. Bhopal. A historic decision has been taken in the upcoming organizational elections of Madhya Pradesh Youth Congress. The organization has given a strong message towards social justice by reserving a post of state general secretary for the transgender community. This step is not only important from the point of view of political inclusion, but also makes a resonant advocacy for the rights of marginalized communities in society. The nomination process was completed by 5 pm on May 13. This is the first time within the Youth Congress that an attempt is being made to give representation to the transgender class in the leadership position. The demand for reservation for marginalized classes in political parties has been going on for a long time, but such examples are rare in practice. This decision of the Youth Congress can become an inspirational beginning in this direction. A big step towards inclusion in politics The transgender community has often fought for identity, respect and opportunity. Even after the Supreme Court granted legal recognition to the ‘third gender’ in 2014, their opportunities for representation in mainstream politics have been very limited. Youth Congress reserving the post of general secretary shows that the organization now wants to prepare the ground for change by giving this class an opportunity to lead. Sociologists and human rights activists have praised this decision. Talking to The Mooknayak, sociologist Dr. Imtiaz Khan said, “Representation in politics is the basis of real participation. By giving reservation to the transgender community, Youth Congress has taken the initiative to give practical shape to the principle of social justice of the Constitution.” The contribution of the transgender community in the politics of Madhya Pradesh has been historic and inspiring. But today the situation is at zero. In the year 2000, Shabnam Mausi won the by-election from Sohagpur assembly seat and got the honour of becoming the country’s first transgender MLA. She defeated candidates from major parties like BJP and Congress while contesting as an independent candidate and secured around 40.8% of the votes. Her victory paved a new path for the transgender community not only in the political arena but also at the social level. Shabnam Mausi stressed on issues like corruption, unemployment and poverty during her tenure and raised her voice for the rights of the transgender community in society. Madhya Pradesh gave the country not only the first transgender MLA but also the first transgender mayor. In 1999, Kamla achieved this feat by winning the election for the post of mayor of Katni Municipal Corporation. However, later the court annulled her election, saying that she was not eligible for the women’s reserved seat. Despite this, Kamla ‘Bua’ won the mayor’s post in the Sagar Municipal Corporation election in 2009, which was another significant achievement for the transgender community. These achievements opened new doors of participation in politics for the transgender community and promoted their acceptance in society. But then transgender representation was not seen. Bhopal-based researcher Pragya Sharma, while talking to The Muknayak on the conditions of the transgender community, said that the biggest problem of this community is social disdain. Being kept away from the mainstream of society, discrimination and humiliating behavior have become the biggest reasons for backwardness in their lives. Their access to basic facilities like education, employment and health is extremely limited. Pragya Sharma believes that political representation of the transgender community can prove to be a big initiative towards changing this situation. If they get an opportunity to participate in the decision-making process, they will not only be able to raise their voice, but will also be able to play an active role in policy making, which will ensure their rights and dignity. The Constitution gives rights Article 15(1) and 15(4) of the Indian Constitution gives the state the right to make special provisions for socially and educationally backward classes. Giving this reservation to the transgender community confirms this sentiment. This decision has the potential to bring change not only in politics but also in society. It is also clear under the Transgender Act, 2019 that governments and institutions should ensure special opportunities in employment and education for this community. Understanding this responsibility, Youth Congress has set a strong example by giving reservation in leadership roles. Transgender Sanjana Singh welcomed the decision of the Congress Party and told The Mooknayak that the transgender community should get equal opportunities not only in the political field but in every field of life. She said that this step is a commendable initiative towards inclusiveness and equality, which will promote the participation of transgenders in society. Congress Party is in favor of social justice Speaking to The Mooknayak, Congress spokesperson Vivek Tripathi said, “The Youth Congress has reserved the post of state general secretary for the transgender community. This is a symbol of our commitment towards social justice. Our national president Mallikarjun Kharge and the entire party, including Rahul Gandhi, are in favour of giving political representation to the deprived and marginalised communities. Therefore, we are trying to bring such communities forward in the organisational structure. This initiative of the party will be recognised as a bold step in political history.” Cortesy : Ankit Pachauri, Hindi News
