Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Chiranjeevi Nath Sinha said that Superintendent of Police (SP) Dinesh Kumar Singh has suspended the station in-charge (SHO) Arun Pratap Singh after finding him guilty in the case and suspended Trilokpur outpost in-charge Manoj Kumar. Earlier, the victim’s family had alleged that the police did not take appropriate action in the case and got one lakh rupees from the accused party by forcibly reconciling. According to the police, Ankit Verma, 28, son of a businessman, kidnapped a 16-year-old Dalit girl on August 22 and allegedly raped her in a hotel and then took the girl to Ghaziabad.

According to the police, she was also raped in a hotel there. After four days, the accused fled after leaving the girl outside her village. The victim’s maternal uncle has alleged that when he complained about this matter to the police, the outpost in-charge forcibly made them settle the matter and also gave one lakh rupees in exchange for settlement, out of which 50 thousand rupees were sent online to the account and the rest was given in cash.

The victim’s maternal uncle said that the minor girl does not have parents and she lives with him. He told that on August 30, he met the Superintendent of Police and demanded action. On the instructions of the SP, the police started action in the case. The victim’s maternal uncle also sent a letter to the Chief Minister and complained about the incident. ASP Sinha said that on the complaint of the victim’s family, action has been initiated by registering an FIR against the accused Ankit Verma under the POCSO Act and other related sections of the Indian Penal Code (BNS) including kidnapping and rape.
