Rahul Singh, Bulandshahr: A sensational case of a Dalit student being brutally beaten up for cutting hair has come to light in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh. A class 12 student was beaten up with sticks by eight teachers of the school. It is alleged that he was abused using casteist language. The student suffered a serious head injury in the assault, due to which he had to get stitches. Also, in this incident of assault, both his hands got fractured. As soon as the incident came to light, there was an uproar. At the same time, the parents allege that they were first pressured to reach a compromise in this matter. After this, threats were also received.
The incident is of 25 January
This incident of beating a Dalit student is of 25 January. Questions are being raised about this incident of Saraswati Vidya Mandir School. All the accused teachers belong to another caste. The school administration had suspended them with immediate effect. However, the matter came to light when the student’s parents lodged an FIR on 5 March due to the continuous threats of the accused despite the compromise reached under pressure.
Attempt to stop from board examination
The victim student’s mother Maya Rani told that her son had cut his hair in January. The teachers called it inappropriate and reprimanded him. The very next day on 25 January, the child was beaten brutally. After this incident, the student was bedridden for a month due to severe mental trauma and physical injuries, due to which he could not even prepare for his board exams properly.
Maya Rani alleges that the accused teachers also tried to stop her son from appearing in the UP Board examination and repeatedly threatened him. Frustrated, she decided to complain to the police. She demanded the arrest of the accused teachers.
Case registered against the accused
The police have registered a case against Sonu Kumar, Vipin Kumar, Deepak Kumar, Manoj Kumar (I), Manoj Kumar (II), Yogesh Kumar, Yogendra and Prashant in this case. A case has been registered against these teachers under sections 191(2) (rioting), 110 (attempt to commit grievous assault), 115(2), 117(4) (intentional hurt) of the BNS and section 3(1)(2) of the SC/ST Act.
What did the school administration say?
School Principal Purushottam Sharma said that such indisciplined behaviour will not be tolerated in our school. The accused teachers have been suspended as soon as the matter came to light. We will fully cooperate in the police investigation. Circle Officer Shobhit Kumar said that the investigation is going on. Strict action will be taken against the culprits.
