Another gang-rape shames Hathras: 3 men brutalise 16-year-old Dalit girl on Holi

A 16-year-old Dalit girl was allegedly gang-raped by three men in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh on March 29.
Agra: Three men at a village in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, allegedly abducted and gang-raped a Dalit girl. The girl was allegedly abducted on March 29, when she stepped out of home to relieve herself. Two of the accused were identified.
At around 2 pm on March 29, the 16-year-old girl stepped out of her house to answer nature’s call. During this time, one of the identified accused allegedly covered the girl’s nose and mouth with a piece of cloth.
Accused gagged teen when she screamed
The teenager lost consciousness soon after the accused put the cloth on her nose and mouth. When she regained consciousness, the girl noticed that she was at the residence of the other identified accused’s sister.
At night, the three men allegedly gang-raped the girl and gagged her with a piece of cloth when she screamed. The accused dropped off the girl at her village the next day. The teenager narrated her ordeal to her parents when she reached home, The Times of India reported.
‘Police threatened to arrest me along with my father and brother’
The teenager told the media that there was no police action. She added, “Also, the police threatened to arrest me along with my father and brother if I spoke against the accused. ” On Thursday, the teenager approached Hathras SP Vineey Jaiswal, who assured to help her.
The SP said that the accused were booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the SC/ST Act. He claimed that during her initial statement, the teenager did not allege rape.
