Later, a mob of local dalit residents blocked the Bhaupur-Kalikadham road and staged a violent protest. Police had to use force to stop the mob.
Senior officials, who rushed to the spot, installed a new bust while an FIR was lodged against seven persons in this connection. SDM Rajatalab Anjani Kumar Singh and CO Sadar Anil Kumar also sought details of the pond land. One Sandeep Ram later filed a complaint against six identified and one unidentified person. SO Jansa Manoj Kumar said an FIR was lodged under section 295, 427 and 147 of IPC and efforts were on to nab the accused. In view of the tension, heavy police force and PAC was deployed.
While the people of dalit fraternity alleged that Ambedkar’s bust was targeted for the third time by some people trying to grab the revenue land, people from other castes alleged that Dalits were trying to capture the land in the name of Ambedkar. In view of the allegation, the SDM asked the revenue department officials to produce the documents for investigation.
