‘Alpin’ to highlight transgender community’s creativity

The Angel Nabajiban Welfare Society would be organising a fashion show for the transgender community with the aim of encouraging their creativity and uplifting them.
The fashion show and beauty contest will be called ‘Alpin’ and will be held in Bardhaman on July 30.
Speaking at a press meet in Kolkata Saturday, Angel Nabajiban Welfare Society founder Sangita Sinha said the initiative was aimed at “uplifting the sense of style, skills and creativity of the members of the LGBTQ community”.
The press meet was also attended by TMC MLA and former state minister Madan Mitra and India’s first transgender college principal Manabi Bandyopadhyay.
“The LGBTQ community needs a platform to express themselves through fashion and beauty. Through this initiative, they will be able to showcase their talents,” said Mitra.
“The LGBTQ community has many hidden talents. This initiative will bring them out, and provide them with opportunities to thrive like ordinary individuals,” said Bandopadhyay.
