Alleged death of Dalit tribal due to police beating, arrested for selling liquor
Jabalpur : There has been a stir in Jabalpur due to the death of an undertrial Dalit tribal prisoner in the Central Jail. The detainee, who was caught on the charge of selling illegal liquor three days ago, was sent to the Medical College Hospital for treatment after his health deteriorated. But he died on the way. The family members allege that he lost his life due to beating by the police. A magisterial inquiry has been ordered into the incident.
Was on Thursday killed
the police noticed Mukesh Singh on Sunday to post and Sunil Singh was arrested for the crime of selling illegal alcohol to tribal. After which both were brought to Gaur Chowki. It is alleged that Mukesh was released after interrogation but Sunil was sent to jail after registering a case. On Thursday, Sunil’s sudden health deteriorated after which he was taken to the medical hospital. But he died before the treatment started.
The relatives accused the police
After this incident, the relatives tried to evade the dead by placing the dead body on Mandla Highway near Gaur Tirahe. The relatives allege that both Mukesh and Sunil were arrested by the police staff of Gaur Chowki. But Mukesh was left with 10 thousand rupees. 4 liters of liquor was found from Sunil and Sunil was implicated by making it 7 liters. After this, he was beaten up fiercely in the name of interrogation with him. Siya Bai, the wife of the deceased, alleges that her husband died due to police beating.
The investigation of the incident started, due to
this incident there is a lot of resentment among the tribal community and family members. While the relatives are accusing the Gaur outpost in-charge and other police personnel of assault, the police officers who reached the spot as soon as they got the news of Chakajam were assuring them of proper action after investigation. According to Additional SP Sanjay Agarwal, the incident is being investigated. The exact cause of death will be revealed only after the post-mortem report comes. The relatives of the deceased have also demanded compensation.
