9 more institutes booked in multi-crore SC/ST scholarship scam by SIT

Haridwar: A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has registered FIRs against nine colleges and educational institutions in connection with the multi-crore SC/ST scholarship scam.
According to SIT, these colleges managed to pocket around Rs 8 crore in scholarship on fake admissions and documents of students.
So far, a total 27 cases have been registered in different police stations in Haridwar, while 15 persons, including joint director Geeta Ram Nautiyal of the social welfare department, have been arrested.
“Nine new cases have been registered against the college and institutions, who submitted fake documents of students and managed to get scholarship in accounts of the colleges directly. Our investigation is going on and we are trying to nab the accused,” SIT head SP Manjunath TC said.
According to SIT, those arrested include owners and office bearers of Himalayan Doon Academy, Gagalheri Raod, Sikandarpur, Bhagwanpur, Haridwar; Om Bio Science and Technology Roorkee/Om Bio Science and Pharma College Near Patanjali Yogepeet, Bhadrabad; Greenway Institute of Management studies Roorkee, Haridwar; Subharti Private ITI, Saini Campus, Bedpur, Piran Kaliyar, Haridwar; UP College of Polytechnic for Research Kamalpur, Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh; Krishna College of Law, Kamalpur, Chhutmalpur, Saharanpur, UP; Himalyan Group of Professional Institutions Smiore, Nahan, Himachal Pradesh; Swami Vivekanand Polytechnic Fatehpur Saharanpur; MIMT Chhutmalpur Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh.
All of them have been booked under sections 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 409 (criminal breach of trust by public servant, or by banker, merchant or agent), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), and 471 (using a forged document or electronic record as genuine) of the Indian Penal Code.
