7 held for beating up tailor in Mehsana village
Seven persons have been arrested in a case of atrocity against a tailor from the Scheduled Caste in Chansol village of Kheralu in Mehsana. He was first allegedly threatened for wearing shorts and later beaten up
when he complained about it. The issued had taken a violent turn, forcing deployment of police in the village.
As per case details, on June 24, one Montu Thakor approached the tailor, Haresh Parmar (35) when he was walking, and questioned him for wearing shorts . When Parmar retorted that he would wear whatever he
liked, an enraged Thakor threatened him. Parmar then called up Thakor’s father to complain about the incident, following which the latter reprimanded him. This infuriated Montu and he and his friends went and beat
up Parmar that night. The next day, Parmar lodged a complaing against them. An FIR was registered against them under Atrocity Act.
Kheralu police arrested Montu, Nikul Darbar, Jasubhai Darbar, Chikan Rathod, Bhupendra Rathod, Ashok Shamruji and Kirti Kanjibhai.
Confirming that the brawl happened over the tailor wearing shorts, Kheralu police inspector R K Pathak said, “The situation at Chansol village is under control. There is enough police bandobast there. We have
arrested seven of the eight accused named by the complainant. Investigation is being done by the DySP since it is a case of atrocity
