5 held for raping Dalit girl in Siddipet
Siddipet: Siddipet Police claimed to have solved the gang rape case of a 16-year-old Dalit girl, a native of Rayavaram in Jagadevpur mandal, with the arrest of five persons.
They arrested five of the six accused on Saturday — Sivarathri Venkat (21), Sivarathri Anjaneyulu (21), Alakuntla Parushuramulu (23), Alakuntla Rajinikanth (19) and MD Raheem (23). The sixth accused, Sriramulu, is on the run. Though the girl alleged that only three men raped her, the police found that six people exploited her thrice in a span of 10 days.
Producing the accused before the media on Sunday, Gajwel ACP Narayana said Parushuramulu and Rajinikanth, natives of Munigadapa in Jagadevpur mandal, are brothers.
Venkat, a native of Ainapur village, and Anjaneyulu, from Bodhan in Nizamabad district, were identified as the main accused, who trapped the girl by giving her missed calls. The ACP said MD Raheem was the girl’s neighbour in Rayavaram.
The police booked the accused under the POCSO Act, SC, ST Atrocities Act and other sections. The accused were sent to remand. The ACP appreciated Jagadevpur SI Sairam and Gajwel Rural Inspector Shivalingam for cracking the case within a couple of days.
