2 arrested for killing Dalit woman in Bijnor
Bijnor: A week after the body of a Dalit woman (35) was found hanging from a tree on the outskirts of her village in Bijnor, local police Wednesday claimed to have cracked the case with the arrest of two men.
Police claimed that the two accused were “close friends” of the woman and wanted to befriend her minor daughter too. But when the woman turned down their request, she was allegedly killed by them, a police officer said.
The accused, Muzammil and Puran Prakash, have confessed to the crime, police claimed.
Superintendent of police (SP) Dharamveer Singh said, “The accused had hanged her body from a tree after strangling her to death. They tried to make it look like a suicide. But the woman’s family members alleged that she was killed. It was then that a murder case was registered against unidentified persons and probe was launched.”
