17 years on, former pradhan among 4 sentenced for life in murder of Dalit man
Muzaffarnagar: A special court here has awarded life term to four people, including a former village head, for the murder of a Dalit man 17 years ago.
According to additional district government counsel (ADGC), Anjum Khan, “The four were sentenced to life by special SC/ST (Atrocities) Act court judge Pankaj Kumar Aggarwal. A penalty of Rs 60,000 has been imposed on the four.”
The four are Kalku, former village head, Ali Hasan, Noor Hasan and Ishver.
According to sources, the four murdered a Dalit man, Surendra, over old enmity and dumped his body in a field at Mukandpur village under Titawi police station on December 25, 2002. Later, his body was found and a case under IPC section 302 (murder) was registered at Titavi police station. The sources said Surendra himself was an accused in the murder of Kallu’s uncle in 2001.
