13-year-old Dalit girl gangraped in Badaun
Bareilly: A 13-year-old Dalit girl was allegedly gangraped by three persons in a village under Ushait police station in Badaun district.
The incident occurred on Monday evening when the girl—who was working in a field— was forcefully taken away by the accused to a cremation ground and was sexually assaulted there. An FIR was lodged on Tuesday.
The girl’s mother said her daughter was later left abandoned at Atena bridge area. She said her daughter reached home later and narrated the entire incident to her family members, who initially did not take action due to the social stigma they may face.
But the girl’s mother lodged a police complaint against them.
The mother has named three persons— Shishupal, Suvendra and Atar Singh— in the complaint.
An FIR was lodged under IPC sections 376 D (gangrape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) and under sections of POCSO Act and SC/ST Act.
Shishupal and Suvendra, both aged 18 years, live in the same village of the survivor, while Atar Singh (32), uncle of Suvendra, is a native of Islam Nagar area of Badaun.
Badaun senior superintendent of police Ashok Kumar said, “The girl’s medical examination has been conducted. The three accused are absconding and we are trying to nab them.
