Verdict in Dalit youth murder case today

The judgment in the Dalit youth Shankar murder case is set to be pronounced by the Principal District and Sessions Judge Alamelu Natarajan on Tuesday.

Shankar was murdered on March 13, 2016, at Udumalpet by a gang. His wife Kausalya escaped with injuries after she and Shankar were brutally attacked while coming out of a shopping complex. The case was considered a honour killing. After investigation, the police arrested 11 persons in the connection with the case, including the parents of Kausalya, and registered cases under seven different sections in the Indian Penal Code and under Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes.
